Genesee County woman wins $4 million from Michigan Lottery instant game
(4/25/2019) - Genesee County's newest millionaire claimed a $4 million prize playing a Michigan Lottery instant game.
The winner, who did not want to be identified, won her prize playing the $150,000,000 Payout instant game. She bought her winning ticket at the Meijer on Center Road in Burton.
"I buy my tickets every day from the same store and decided to purchase the $150,000,000 Payout ticket after winning $2,000 on it a month ago," said the big winner.
As she was scratching off the stars, she noticed the ticket was a winner but didn't immediately realize how much.
"I saw the '4MIL' underneath and at first I was confused until I realized it meant I won $4 million," the woman said. "I was in shock. All I could think was, 'What am I going to do and who am I going to tell?'"
The 60-year-old winner recently visited Michigan Lottery headquarters in Lansing to claim her prize. She is receiving a lump sum payment of $2.5 million rather than accept an annuity for the full $4 million prize.
The woman is planning a big vacation with her winnings, then plans to deposit the rest in savings.
"I'm still in shock, but I feel so happy to win this money," she said.
