Charlie Tinker

Charlie Tinker works as a general assignment reporter and fill in anchor for WJRT-TV, specifically focusing on the Bay Area.

Charlie joined the ABC12 news team in March of 2020 after leaving a five year stint at 9 & 10 News (WWTV) in Northern Michigan, where he helped launch and co-anchor ‘The Four’, the station’s daily hour-long talk feature program in addition to several other evening newscasts.

Prior to his television debut, Charlie's career began in Detroit radio, where he briefly worked as an on-air personality, commercial vocal talent and as a staffer within the promotions department.

Charlie studied at Oakland University, graduating in 2014. There, an internship with Local 4 (WDIV), later opened the door to a career in journalism, which began with a move north to Traverse City and a bureau reporting spot with WWTV.

Charlie’s duties rapidly transitioned from general assignment reporting to anchoring, first on the weekends and later, weekday evening broadcasts, including the 4:00, 5:00, 7:00 and 10:00news.

He looks forward to pursuing his passion and getting to know the people of Mid-Michigan in this new role!
