GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (WJRT) - Fresh off the first presidential debate, former Vice President Joe Biden announced a trip to West Michigan for next week.

The Democrat presidential candidate is planning a campaign stop in Grand Rapids on Friday to “discuss building back the economy better for working families,” according to a statement. The time and place for the visit were not announced.

Biden last visited Michigan on Sept. 9, when he spoke to a small group gathered at the United Auto Workers Region 1 headquarters in Warren. The national speech highlighting his plans to boost the domestic economy was livestreamed to a national audience.

Biden’s running mate, Sen. Kamala Harris, was in Flint on Sept. 22 to tour Black-owned downtown businesses and talk about the effects of the coronavirus pandemic. She made two additional campaign stops in the Detroit area later in the day.

Biden’s wife, Jill, was in Traverse City earlier this week. She toured a farm to talk about the effects of climate change and took part in an event highlighting Michigan’s early voting options.

President Donald Trump staged a campaign rally at MBS International Airport in Saginaw County on Sept. 10.
